These sporty classic tennis sneakers from Tretorn are cooler than ever. Clean, soft canvas upper in a vintage tennis style sneaker with stitching and overlay accents, contrast colored leather gullwing side stripe, and a lace up front with logo metal eyelets. Contrast colored padded collar, with a soft terrycloth style lining and a cushioned insole. Light and flexible rubber midsole with textured toe and heel bumpers, and a clean traction patterned outsole.

The Tretorn Nylite for kids is made with higher quality than the adult Tretorn Nylites of recent years (c. 2009 - 2011), although there are hints that Tretorn is improving the quality of their adult seasonal color combinations for summer 2012. (ASIDE: If Tretorn simply would make all Tretorn Nylites in the same way, with the same quality, and similar color options, that they offered in the Tretorn Nylite during the 1970s and 1980s, they'd sell a lot more product and have more consistently positive product reviews here and elsewhere.)The canvas is white-white for the kids Nylite, rather than off-white for the adult Nylite. The kids Nylite has a padded ankle collar, while the adult Nylite's ankle collar is mostly stitching. The kids Nylite has the classic sock liner (interior lining, including the bottom of the tongue) made from the usual terry cloth and very soft, unlike the recent adult Nylites. The top rear part of the ankle collar at the heel of the kids Nylites is a bit shorter than in the days of yore, which also is true of the current adult Nylites. Adults who wear smaller shoe sizes likely will be happier with construction quality of the big kids Tretorn Nylites than of the recent (c. 2009 - 2011) adult Tretorn Nylites.Folks who want to keep the canvas bright and avoid dirt might want to apply ScotchGuard or similar before them wearing outdoors, but back in the 1970s/1980s/1990s most folks didn't worry about this. Nylites have a classic style and are worn by girls/boys and women/men. The only real style rule for Nylites has been that boys/men don't wear pink.The toe box is a bit narrow, as always. For sizing, the Big Kids 6 will fit a woman's 7.5 B or a men's/boy's 6 C. Folks with a wider forefoot (D width) might need to buy a half-size larger, which seems always to have been the case. Folks wearing thick tennis socks also might need to buy up a half-size.Someone looking for a professional tennis shoe should look elsewhere, but these work fine for casual tennis (or racquetball or handball or volleyball) games or as a kids "gym shoe". The canvas upper breathes much better than leather would. They are also great casual shoes, of course, and were specifically mentioned in The Official Preppy Handbook back in the day.

Great sneakers! They stick well to the courts even though they aren't gel shoes. I ended up with a smaller pair than I normally wear. I got one full size smaller. That's what I hate about shoes! The sizes are always slightly different! The back did rub my heel the first time I wore them, but after that, they were fine and I don't have any more problems and they are super comfy.
