With all the furor over "minimal" sneakers I thought I would give these a try. They are 1/3 the price of the more popular brands, but to me they are almost as good.They are very simple shoes, which is a plus. I keep them at the door to slip on for quick trips to the store. I love the unique soles most of all. They are very thin, close to being barefoot, but they are a harder rubber than you would think, so walking in them is a breeze. For such a thin soled shoe the tread is very deep and aggressive. The lines of the tread pattern slant back, making sharp edges that grip in almost anything soft, and the tread lines go in different directions for good traction no matter how I step, so I don't hesitate to step on whatever is in my way--mud, dropped food, even worms that come out after a rain--all of them get the tread pattern of my sneakers pressed into them. The unique tread has the added bonus of leaving great tracks. I have always been a careless walker, stepping on just about anything in my path, but the combination of the great treads of these shoes with the ability to feel the ground and what I walk on makes me step on everything! When my wife and I go to the grocery store, with its messy floors, she often points out stuff for me to walk on. I have trod on countless things there, grapes, tomatoes, spilled sauces, a pack of hamburger, which I stood on while I made my own choice. I left a deep impression in the burger, of course, but the other items I walk through usually take the imprint of my sole, or I track them down the aisle.I highly recommend these to anyone who wants a sneaker that isn't big and clunky, but who wants a good traction sole.

The Instep twirling shoes are very lightweight and have a flexible, rubber sole to prevent slipping. The feel is similar to being barefoot, but with a little added support at the heel and ball of the foot. The toe area is designed with a slight turn up to accentuate the twirler's toe points. While they are best suited for indoor use, they can be machine washed if they become dirty or muddy. I preferred the tan and black colors because the white ones become dingy after multiple uses on a muddy football field. Since the top and sides are made out of a light canvas, they can become uncomfortable for people who need more support out of a shoe.
